You can get your hand on 2021 quite soon, as the pre-order starts from September 17, and the official iPhone 13 release date is set to be September 24, 2021.
And before we go further and discuss all four devices in detail, here’s a shot of iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13. Indeed a sight for sore eyes!
iPhone 13 design
All four iPhone 13 series carry the same display size, flat-edged design, and Ceramic Shield glass as their 2020 predecessor. So, in terms of the basic form factor, nothing much has changed. However, visually, there is a massive change; we’ve finally got a smaller notch!

The camera bump redesign

As rumored, the camera bump in iPhone 13 series has some alterations. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini sport diagonally arranged lenses in the rear.
Moreover, iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max boast beautiful stainless steel rims around all three sapphire crystal lens, enhancing both looks and protection quotient of the device.
iPhone 13 Colors
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini
Both devices are available in five gorgeous aluminum colors, including Apple’s staple Product RED, starlight (white), midnight (black), blue, and the rumored pale pink.
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max
The Pro models are available in four mesmerizing shades, graphite, gold, silver, and sierra blue. Reportedly, the all-new sierra blue is crafted using layers of nanometer-scale metallic ceramics for a stunning and durable finish.
iPhone 13 battery life

While Apple doesn’t explain its reason, it claims a giant leap in battery life in all four variants. We suspect a bigger battery and better optimization with iOS 15 and A15 chip is to be credited.
- iPhone 13 – Up to 2.5 hours more battery than iPhone 12.
- iPhone 13 mini – Up to 1.5 hours more battery than iPhone 12 mini.
- iPhone 13 Pro – Up to 1.5 more hours of battery than iPhone 13 Pro.
- iPhone 13 Pro Max – Up to 2.5 more hours of battery than iPhone 12 Pro Max.
iPhone 13 Performance: A15 Bionic Chip
As per Apple, A15 is
- The world’s fastest smartphone chip.
- All-new 5‑core GPU lends 50% faster graphics performance than the competition.
And it wears many hats from speed-boosting, camera-elevating, AR, and the most important of them all power-optimizing.
Thanks to it, you can enjoy Cinematic mode, Photographic Styles, Live Text, and more.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini: No compromise
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini boasts significant battery life improvements, impressively better Super Retina XDR OLED display, super-efficient A15 Bionic, remarkable dual-camera system, advance computational photography features, and more.
And even though both devices are the base models, it seems that Apple has left no stone unturned.
Most advanced dual‑camera system ever
It seems that placing the lenses at 45 degrees can do the trick! The iPhone 13 and 13 mini adopt a new diagonal architecture, making room for
- The biggest wide camera sensor captures 47% more light.
- Sensor-shift optical image stabilization to keep shots steady, a luxury previously limited to iPhone 12 Pro Max.
- Faster ultra-wide camera sensor to capture more detail across the photo.
iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max: Oh. So. Pro.
With a highly responsive and adaptive display, fastest smartphone chip, better battery life, and dramatically more powerful camera system, iPhone 13 Pro models have certainly raised the bar.
120Hz refresh rate, finally
The Pro models proudly boast a 120Hz adaptive refresh display, i.e., it can refresh from 10 to 120 times per second. The idea is to preserve the battery while enhancing your touch experience.
So, it will automatically ramp up or down the refresh rate according to the speed of your finger, accelerated during gaming, and decelerated while surfing or reading.
- Brighter than ever – Another benefit of the ProMotion technology is that it offers up to 25% brighter outdoors. So, you can see your content easily, even in the harshest of the Sun.
- Gamer’s paradise – All I’ll say is, imagine the experience of harnessing the power of the A15 Bionic chip and adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
The biggest camera system upgrade ever
Designed to change how you shoot, iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max marry next-level hardware with superintelligent software.
Macro photography – The new Ultra-Wide camera lens and powerful autofocus system enable sharp focus events at just 2cm. And you can not only photos but also capture macro video, even slow-motion and time-lapse.
Night mode now on every camera – Even the Telephoto lens has got it. Plus, the Ultra-Wide lens gets a wider aperture, faster sensor, and better autofocus; then there is the LiDar Scanner incorporated last year. Overall, it offers up to 2.2x improved low-light performance.
There’s more – 3x optical zoom on Telephoto and 6x optical zoom range across the system.
Mind-boggling computational photography features
Cinematic mode
Ever heard about rack focus? The art of shifting focus from one subject to another and guiding the audience’s attention as per your story. Now you can adopt that trick to shoot beautiful depth-of-field transitions, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, and macro video.
Remarkably, you can even adjust the depth effect after you shoot. Now, this is something even pro movie cameras would struggle with.
Photographic Styles
Everyone has a favorite filter that suits their style to the T. Photographic Styles takes this concept and expands it to help create a personal look for your photos. However, this one is more than just a preset or filter.
It intelligently and selectively applies adjustments to the right areas, keeping the skin tones intact. And you have to choose it one time, and all your photos subsequently will have a consistent style. All four iPhone 13 models house four Photographic Styles – Vibrant, Rich Contrast, Warm and Cool.
Smart HDR 4
The perfect group photo now exists! Your iPhone can recognize up to four different people in a scene and refine contrast, lighting, and skin tones for each person so that everybody looks their best
Don’t underestimate the front camera
The front camera literally takes the front seat for once in iPhone 13 series and supports almost all these computational photography features.
- Cinematic mode
- Photographic Styles
- Dolby Vision HDR recording up to 4K at 60 fps
- 4K video recording at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps
- 1080p HD video recording at 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps
- Portrait mode
- Night mode selfies
- Smart HDR 4
- Deep Fusion
- ProRes 4K at 30 fps (1080p at 30 fps for 128GB storage)
Who thought selfies could be so powerful!
ProRes: Only for Pro models
Record and edit broadcast-ready content entirely on your iPhone, all that to high color fidelity and low compression of ProRes.
iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are the first smartphones that enable end-to-end pro workflow. You can record in Dolby Vision or ProRes.

Apple events are usually not complete without terms like ‘best ever,’ ‘fastest ever,’ ‘smartest ever.’ And this time around, it uses all those adjectives for the camera system in all four iPhone 13 variants.
Though it seems plausible on paper, we will only believe it once the devices are in our hands and thoroughly tested. If you are interested in knowing the result, stay tuned. In the meanwhile, share your views about iPhone 13 in the comments section below.
