Key Takeaways
  • According to Mark Gurman, the first batch of Apple Intelligence features will be available from October 28th, 2024, with iOS 18.1.
  • Only iPhones with A18, A18 Pro, and A17 Pro chips, as well as Macs & iPad with Apple Silicon chips support Apple Intelligence.
  • The October rollout will only be for the U.S. A few other regions will receive Apple Intelligence in December 2024.

Introduced at WWDC 2024, Apple Intelligence is Apple’s take on artificial intelligence. While iOS 18 beta users have been using a few Apple Intelligence features for months now, users who don’t want to risk their iPhone’s performance with beta updates have yet to get their hands on it.

Luckily, Apple, at the Glowtime event announced that, unlike the iPhone 15 series, all iPhone 16 series models would get Apple Intelligence. However, the question remains: When will Apple Intelligence be available? Keep reading to find out.

When will Apple Intelligence arrive?

Along with the release of the iPhone 16 Series, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence will be available on all supported iPhone models from October onwards in U.S. English, with support for more language coming later. That said, Apple has yet to give a specific date.

However, renowned Apple analyst Mark Gurman has said that Apple Intelligence is going to be released on October 28th with iOS 18.1. We picked up this date from Mark Gurman’s latest newsletter about Apple’s upcoming plans.

Moreover, we expect only a few Apple Intelligence features in the initial release, which is similar to what happened with the beta updates. While the October rollout is for the U.S. only, the following regions will get their first batch of Apple Intelligence features in December 2024:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • New Zealand
  • South Africa
  • United Kingdom

China, France, Japan, and Span in 2025 will follow this Apple Intelligence rollout expansion. Once Apple Intelligence is made available, you’ll need to join the Apple Intelligence waitlist to get your hands on the AI features.

Similar to what is being followed in beta users, stable iOS 18 users will also receive Apple Intelligence features in a staggered manner. This means that not all Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC 2024 will be available on release. However, it is certain that all the Apple Intelligence features already available in beta will be made available on release.

Here’s a list of Apple Intelligence features that we expect to arrive with the iOS 18.1 update:

While it is good that these many Apple Intelligence features will be available on release, it is sad that we’ll need to wait till December to get our hands on notable features such as Genmoji and Image Playground with the iOS 18.2 beta, as revealed by Mark Gurman.

Which iPhones support Apple Intelligence?

Now, this is where many iPhone users will be disappointed, as not all iPhones that support iOS 18 will get Apple Intelligence. According to Apple, most of the Apple Intelligence tasks will primarily be processed on-device, ensuring higher privacy and data protection. This also means that Apple Intelligence needs a powerful processor, so Apple has reserved Apple Intelligence for iPhone models with at least A18, A18 Pro, and A17 Pro chips under the hood.

Here’s a full list of Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone models:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

Besides the iPhones, all the Macs and iPads with Apple Silicon also support Apple Intelligence.
